On Wednesday, April 23, an executive order (EO) and associated fact sheet were issued with the stated purpose of reforming and strengthening accreditation for U.S. colleges and universities. The directive seeks to accelerate the recognition of new accreditors, refocus the mission of existing ones, reduce costs, and support member institutions in improving student outcomes through high-quality post-secondary education. Wake Forest officials continue to follow this as well as other federal policy changes regarding higher education.

Wake Forest is currently in the accreditation reaffirmation cycle and is following the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) current criteria and guidance. We will continue to monitor evolving criteria and will adjust our applications and reporting accordingly.
