The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that it will begin considering individuals’ social media activity when evaluating immigration and visa requests.

This policy will apply to applicants for lawful permanent resident status, international students, and individuals affiliated with educational institutions currently under investigation for antisemitic activity.

Under the new guidance, USCIS will treat social media content that promotes, supports, or endorses antisemitism — or related activity — as a negative factor in the discretionary evaluation of immigration benefits.
